TWC VS CCWF SHOW 3 MAY 2002
AT
BRENDALE, QLD
REPORT BY NATE HOLYNSKI AND DAN TAYLOR

Friday, 3rd of May we had the honor of attending the show which featured some of the young up and comers in the QLD scene coming from two of the bigger Brisbane area training schools in the TWC and CCWF. Basically these guys are two organisations starting up in the Brisbane area, filled with young, eager workers. This was a closed show to the public featuring a lot of young guys currently training, and building up their skills to work a big show in the near future in the untapped Brisbane area.

We had a bit of trouble at the beginning of the show and unfortunately missed a big five man, but we caught the rest of the action.

The show starts off with Dylan ‘The Vylan’ Burns and the other more experienced TWC workers cutting a promo about tonight’s event in the parking lot. As Dylan is talking out of no where a white van full of the younger “new blood” from CCWF pulls up. The CCWF boys all jump out attacking the TWC members a “wild” brawl occurs. As the two groups break apart we head to ringside.

FIRST MATCH OF THE EVENING
RAZOR STAINES (TWC) VS DYLAN ‘The Vylan’ BURNS (TWC)

Burns had a very good look – classic babyface. Staines look needs to be worked on, but shows a lot of potential. Both TWC guys shake hand as a sign of respect to start the match.

Early on in the match the two tie up, Staines connecting with several huge hip toss’s, that gained a great deal of height. Burns shot into the ropes and is on the receiving end of a tilt-a-whirl, but counters into a headscissors to get a two count. Burns drills Staines with a running bulldog that gained some major height, followed another near fall.

As the match progresses Razor catches Burns off the rope with a belly to belly. Then all hell breaks loose as the entire CCWF crew invades the ring, taking out both TWC combatants. The CCWF attack both Staines and Burns with kicks and punches as both men are left beaten.

SECOND MATCH
Polar Bear Oxgman (TWC) VS PUK.E (CCWF we think)

Basic squash match as the ‘Bear’ hammers Puk. E with punches and kicks. Eventually Puk.E just taps out from the beating.

CCWF TITLE MATCH
Pyrosis (CCWF) VS Bane McVeigh (CCWF)

Both of these guys each had a great look. Highlights of the match include a beautiful flying head butt by Pyrosis for a near fall (gutsy move, didn’t break his fall whatsoever with his arms like a lot of younger guys would be tempted to). Lariat by Bane for a 2 count, followed up with some decent give and take wrestling, including a slightly sloppy top rope powerbomb. Pyrosis gets the win over Bane with a variation on a sidewalk slam. The entire TCW roster enters the ring beating down both CCWF members for revenge from earlier on in the night.

#1 CONTENDERS MATCH
Polar Bear Oxgman (TWC) VS A-Way (TWC)

Bear has double duty as he takes on A-Way.

Match highlights include A-Way with 3 straight back breakers that leave Bear almost crippled. A-Way hits a very high leg drop that is almost Cash Flo like in it’s height. Bear looks in trouble as A-Way locks in the sharpshooter but he makes his way to the ropes. Bear fights back with some stiff aggressive shots to A-Way’s neck area. Bear hits a few power moves to gain momentum in the match, before the finish as Bear gets A-Way in a DVD position before dropping him out in a scoop slam with great force for the 1, 2, 3. Nice finishing maneuver. A-Way needs to work on some selling aspects, however the moves were there and hit quite well.

FIFTH MATCH OF THE EVENING
DARKNESS (CCWF) VS ‘DAVE’ (CCWF)

Highlights of the match start with a big shoulder tackle from Dave, which sends Darkness down in a big collision. Some stiff kicks from Darkness that looked very painful. As the match progressed, we saw one of the spots of the show as Dave Sunset Flipped Darkness into a two count, before switching into from the pinning predicament into a walls of Jericho/Boston crab. Darkness looks to be in a lot of trouble as ‘Dave’ stretches back , but Darkness struggles to the ropes to get the break. The finish comes when Darkness delivers a downward spiral type takedown for the pin. Darkness is a massive fellow at 110+ kg and nearly 6”5. This man is a monster, and considering he’s only been trained for a 1 month + he’ll get better. Nice match overall, with some entertaining stuff and a few blown spots.

SIXTH MATCH OF THE EVENING
B XTREME (CCWF) VS MITCH (CCWF)

Mitch Wins with a roll up, as a huge TCW AND CCWF brawl errupts shortly afterwards.

MAIN EVENT

CCWF VS TWC

CCWF: Bane McVeigh, Pyrosis, Dave, Darkness vs TWC: Dylan The Vylan, Razor Staines, Bear, A-Way

The match starts off with some nice exchanges from each of the competitors as they became legal. An early highlight included Dave with some stiff kicks to Burns. Darkness hits a nice suplex on Burns, followed by a sloppy lariat into the mid section. Dave comes in and nails Burns hard into the turnbuckle. All of a sudden all 8 men are in the ring as a huge brawl starts - too much action to list, however some nice spots including some choking pedigrees, a piledriver face buster and more. Ref eventually gains control, as STB nails Bear with a well placed super kick that looked very nice. All hell breaks loose once again as everyone’s in. Dave takes a nice piledriver with near falls coming fast and furious. Straight jacket by SLB on Burns - the TWC leader, that chokes Burns with his own hands, before Darkness comes in with a huge chokeslam Staines Dave eventually hits a Dave crusher on Staines for the three count.

Disappointing main due to the absolute cluster fuck of everyone in the ring and the loss of the legal man, but overall a good show that was a lot of fun. If you’re in the Brisbane area please come out to the gym and see the boys work and give Queensland wrestling some support. If you’re interested in tapes from their events or to contact them you can reach the TWC HERE and the CCWF HERE. Or you can email STB or Bane McVeigh.
